Newsflash December 16, 2009

Christmas Break

This year, school will be dismissed on Thursday, December 17, 2009, at noon. School will resume on Tuesday, January 5, 2010.

Out of Uniform

The students may come out of uniform on Thursday, December 17, 2009.  If they would like, they can come as their favorite Christmas character, elves, trees, packages, Santa, etc.

The Nativity Movie

The school will be watching The Nativity Story (2006) on Thursday, December 17, 2009.  We will start viewing the movie in the morning before the Secret Santa gift exchange and the Christmas party.  You can get more information about the movie from http://www.newline.com/properties/nativitystorythe.html.

Secret Santa

This year most of the students are participating in a secret Santa gift exchange.  They will be exchanging gifts on Thursday before the party. If any student knows in advance that he or she will not be here for the party, please inform the office or one of the teachers so that Secret Santa gifts can be exchanged before Thursday.

Christmas Party (Thursday, December 17, 2009)

The school will have a party beginning at 11:00 a.m. We are asking each student to bring food items (such as cookies, chips. hot foods, sandwiches, drinks, etc) for the party.  Also, we would love for as many parents to come as possible.  Please remember that school will be dismissed at noon.

Report Cards

Report cards, bills and ski information will be mailed out over the holidays.

Ski Trip

For those attending the school ski trip, final payment on the ski equipment rental and lift ticket is due on Tuesday, January 5, 2010.  Please make plans to send the money in that day.

For those who are new this year, the ski trip is a time for staff, students and their families to get together outside of the school setting.  Each child will need to have a parent or guardian with them while on the trip. The school will not be providing chaperones. This person will have to sign the rental agreement and liability form.  For additional information, you can visit the ski area’s website at www.cataloochee.com.

No classes will be held for those not attending.

Please make sure you make your reservations at the hotel as soon as possible if you want to be near our group.  Also, school will be closed Wednesday through Friday, January 6-8, 2010, for the school ski trip.
