Welcome
Back
We are very glad to see our returning students along
with many new ones. This year has started
off well, but has been very busy so far. Our goal is to give your child a
quality education, in a thoroughly biblical framework. Please let us know if you have any
questions. I have included email addresses
below for your convenience in case you need to contact us.

Labor
Day
We wanted to remind you that school will be out next
Monday, September 7, 2009. We
hope that this will be a time that you can enjoy with your friends and family.
Wash
Your Hands
As we get closer to flu season, please encourage
your children to wash their hands on a regular basis. We have taken additional precautions such as
installing hand sanitization stations, hanging posters that encourage good hand
washing habits, and disinfecting daily student contact areas such as keyboards,
door handles, desks, and lunch room tables. In the unlikely event of a H1N1 (swine flu)
virus, we will close the school for at least one day to do extra disinfecting
and so that you may be able to get your children tested for the virus. We will contact the CDC (Center for Disease
Control) for further guideline and compliance issues with regard to closing
school for additional days if needed. If
you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office. Please see the
attached sheet for additional information.
Student Drivers
The
following information is being provided to help clarify the law affecting
Georgia students who have turned 16 on or after 2007 and who choose to apply
for a Class D Driver’s License.
What is “Joshua's Law”?
Senate
Bill 226 also known as "Joshua's Law” was passed during the 2005 General
Assembly. Beginning January 1, 2007, all 16-year-olds applying for a Class
D driver's license must complete an approved driver education
course AND complete
a total of 40 hours of supervised driving, 6 hours of which must be at
night, with a parent or guardian's sworn verification that these driving
requirements have been met.
Any
Georgia
student who has not completed an approved driver education course must
wait until age 17 to be eligible for a Class D driver's license. He or she must
still complete a total of at least 40 hours of supervised driving, including at
least 6 hours at night. The same verification in writing by a parent or
guardian is required.
Some
additional points to remember are:
Ø The 15 year old permit
holder must be accompanied by a licensed (class C) adult, 21 years or older.
Ø No driving between the hours
of 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. No Exceptions.
Ø No driving with any
non-family members under the age of 21 for the first six-months.
Ø If a student drops out of
school prior to his 18th birthday, his license will be suspended
after 10 days.
